Scientific and technological achievements appraisal meeting about "Key technology of Synthesis and application of iron catalyzed polybutadiene rubber" is Sponsored by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation in Shandong Qingdao on July 23rd., the appraisal meeting composed of nine experts which included researcher Tang Yong (academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences), This achievement was jointly completed by Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as "Qingdao Energy Institute") (Energy Research Institute of Shandong Academy of Sciences and Sinopec Baling Petrochemical Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "Sinopec Baling").
Mr. Wang Keqiang, the Chairman of Shandong HAOHUA Tire Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "HAOHUA Tire") , as an expert member of the appraisal committee, heard the work statement and technical report, check and approve the key technology documents. The appraisal committee confirmed that the overall technology of the project has passed the appraisal and has reached the international advanced level through inquiry and discussion; The appraisal committee suggested that the key technologies for synthesis and application of iron catalyzed polybutadiene rubber should be industrialized as soon as possible.
Due to both the issue that China's synthetic rubber is heavily dependent on imports and Urgent demand for high-value conversion and utilization of C4-C5 olefins downstream of petrochemical industry, Qingdao Energy Institute Designed and composed of new iron based catalyst to produce new iron based neoprene materials,also independently developed catalyst technology and catalytic polymerization technology. Qingdao Energy Institute cooperated with Sinopec Baling complated the first pilot scale up test of 100 ton batch polymerization and continuous polymerization of iron based polybutadiene rubber, and the demonstration research is being conducted on industrialization of 30000 tons of output per year. Qingdao Energy Institute cooperated with HAOHUA Tire carried out research on application technology of iron based polybutadiene styrene rubber to replace solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber in tire tread, and completed tire manufacturing and evaluation, the experimental evaluation results show that the wet grip index of iron series neoprene tire reached 1.63, reaching Class A of the new EU labeling method (reference tire Class B), iron based polybutadiene styrene rubber can completely replace the imported solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber. The project has applied for 36 invention patents, including 7 international invention patents; there are 13 invention patents have been approved and authorized, including 1 European invention patent; Technical achievements have formed independent intellectual property rights.
Haohua Tire and Qingdao Energy Institute signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement on "key technologies for the synthesis and application of iron catalyzed polybutadiene rubber". In the future, both parties will jointly manufacture and market promotion of high performance tire of branched polybutadiene rubber.
China is the largest tire production and consumption country in the world, the demand for solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber is more than 200000 tons per year, it is the main raw material for making high-performance tire tread, its function is to provide high wet skid resistance (safety). Meanwhile, it is predicted that the demand for solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber in China will remain at an annual growth rate of 10% with the rapid growth of China's tire industry; however, China's high-end solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber is almost monopolized by foreign countries because it is heavily dependent on imports. The way to solve the problem of heavy dependence on imports, needs to form a major achievement output that is "original, systematic, useful and influential", serving the country's major demand for energy, chemicals and new materials and the development of the national economy.
